§7 Your Choices and Opt-Outs

7.1 AI Training Opt-Out

You may opt out of having your data used to train our AI models by emailing privacy@courtme.ai with the subject line "AI Training Opt-Out." We will process your request within 15 business days. Opting out will not affect your ability to use the service, though match quality may be impacted.

7.2 Do Not Sell or Share

You may opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising by visiting our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. We also honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals as a valid opt-out of the sale and sharing of personal information. When we detect a GPC signal, we will treat it as a request to opt out for that browser and device.

7.3 Marketing Communications

You can opt out of promotional emails by clicking the "unsubscribe" link included at the bottom of every marketing email we send. Please note that even if you opt out of marketing communications, we will still send you service-related messages (such as match notifications, date confirmations, and safety alerts).

7.4 Cookie Preferences

You can manage your cookie preferences through our cookie consent banner, which appears when you first visit our site. You may also adjust your preferences at any time through your browser settings. See Section 8 for more details.

§8 Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use the following categories of cookies and tracking technologies:

  • Essential cookies: Required for core functionality, including authentication, security, and remembering your preferences. These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics): Help us understand how users interact with our platform, including pages visited, session duration, and feature usage. This data is used to improve our service.
  • Advertising cookies (Meta Pixel, Google Ads): Used for targeted advertising and conversion measurement. These cookies allow Meta and Google to show you relevant ads and help us measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns.

You can manage your cookie preferences through our cookie consent banner. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we will automatically opt you out of analytics and advertising cookies.

§9 Data Retention

We retain your information for different periods depending on the type of data and the purpose for which it was collected:

  • Active account data: Retained while your account is active, plus up to 2 years after you submit a deletion request, to allow for processing, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
  • AI training data: Data used to train and improve our AI models may be retained in anonymized or aggregated form indefinitely. If you submit an AI training opt-out request, we will cease using your personally identifiable data for future training within 15 business days, though previously trained models are not affected.
  • Identity verification records: Retained for 5 years after account closure for safety and legal compliance purposes.
  • Transaction records: Retained for 7 years in accordance with financial record-keeping requirements.
  • Safety and ban records: Retained indefinitely to prevent re-registration by users removed for safety violations.
  • Analytics data: Retained for up to 50 months.
  • Server logs: Retained for up to 1 year.

§10 Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and encryption at rest
  • Access controls and role-based permissions
  • Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
  • Secure data storage with reputable cloud infrastructure providers
  • Employee training on data protection and privacy practices

No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.

§11 Children's Privacy

courtme.ai is intended exclusively for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will immediately terminate their account and delete their data. We cooperate with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and report any suspected child exploitation material.

If you believe that a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@courtme.ai.

§12 Third-Party Links

Our platform may contain links to third-party websites, services, or applications. We are not responsible for the privacy practices, content, or security of those third parties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services before providing them with your information. This Privacy Policy applies only to courtme.ai and services operated by CourtMe, Inc.

§13 IRL Mode & Events

When you join courtme at a partner event ("IRL Mode") — for example by scanning an event QR code or entering a join code — the following applies in addition to the rest of this policy:

  • What we collect at events: the event you joined and the host/QR code that referred you, the profile information you create (including your selected intent, such as networking, friendship, or romance), your in-app activity at the event, and the standard account, device, and usage data described in Section 1.
  • Event matches are temporary; your account is not. The matches generated for an event are removed after the event ends. Your account, profile, and messages are retained on our systems after the event (subject to Section 9, Data Retention) so you can keep using courtme — removing event matches does not delete your account or your data.
  • What the host sees: event hosts receive aggregate statistics only (such as the number of scans, signups, and matches). Hosts do not receive your name, contact details, profile, or messages.
  • Event & promotional notifications: we may send you in-app push notifications about future events from the host whose event you joined, and about courtme. You can opt out of these in your notification settings (service and safety messages may still be sent).
  • In-app advertising: we may show advertising or sponsored placements within the app. This is handled under the advertising and "sale/sharing" disclosures in Sections 3 and 7 and your opt-out rights there continue to apply.

§14 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated policy on this page, updating the "Last updated" date, and, where appropriate, notifying you by email or through an in-app notification.

We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of our services after the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
